Five years ago, Hurricane Sandy struck the East Coast with a record-setting 14-foot surge.
Winds gusted up to 80 mph, and tides were especially high due to the full moon.
That’s why in October, Somerby Sandy Springs hosted a communitywide senior speed-dating event aimed at helping participants “rediscover their spark.” As a result of that event, two participants, Renee Weiss and Miles Miller, have been an item ever since.“They are truly thankful that they found one another,” Jodi Firestone, community liaison for Somerby Sandy Springs, said in a news release.
“At the very least, we wished for participants to walk away from the event with newfound friendships, but this blossomed into a true romance.”Not only do events such as this allow Somerby to give back, but it was also important to do a communitywide effort for sheer numbers.
